Brooklyn School of Excellence (BSE)
The Kindergarten Preparation Program at Brooklyn School of Excellence is designed to support incoming students as they transition confidently into Kindergarten in September 2026. This program focuses on building strong academic foundations, social-emotional readiness, and classroom independence in a nurturing and structured environment.
Through developmentally appropriate instruction, students are introduced to essential early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills while learning how to function successfully in a classroom setting. Emphasis is placed on routines, listening skills, following directions, and positive peer interaction; key components for a smooth Kindergarten transition.
Program Focus Areas
Early Literacy: letter recognition, phonics awareness, vocabulary development, and pre-reading skills
Math Readiness: number recognition, counting, basic operations, patterns, and logical thinking
Fine Motor Skills: handwriting readiness, cutting, drawing, and hand coordination
Social & Emotional Development: cooperation, self-regulation, confidence, and independence
Classroom Skills: routines, organization, focus, and teacher-guided instruction
